Kidnap for ransom is a very real threat in many parts of the world. For criminals and criminal gangs, kidnapping represents a relatively quick and easy way to obtain large amounts of money. Criminals and their methods of attack and infiltration are continuously evolving to counter any security measures that are designed to foil their attempts. Kidnapping takes on many forms, from virtual kidnap and ransom VKnR  to Tiger kidnapping, where kidnappers use a targeted victim to commit another crime for them. This has been successfully demonstrated to be one of the only ways by which up-to-date comprehensive physical security systems may be breached.

 There are many factors that can make someone a potential target including their clothes or the color their skin. Employers therefore owe a duty of care to their staff and a responsibility to ensure that they are equipped with the necessary skills to reduce their risk.

This workshop is designed to guarantee both enhanced awareness of the risks of this threat and awareness and initiation of behavioral change. It focuses on the key people and their families that may be vulnerable to this form of attack. Participants in this workshop are given an insight into the various motivations for kidnapping and practical techniques on how to avoid a kidnapping situation. Advice is also provided on how a person should act in the event they are kidnapped to reduce the likelihood of being harmed.
